ABOUT ME

A picture of Kat Robinson

I was born and raised in Leicester and growing up I wanted to take part in as many sports as possible. Luckily, my parents were very supportive. I did athletics, cross country, swam for Leicestershire and eventually found rugby union at the age of 14.

In 2010 I joined the RAF as an aircraft technician (mechanical). It was a great career path for me as I just always had this......in taking things apart, seeing how they worked and fixing them. In 2012 I joined the RAF rugby team and soon got capped for both the RAF and the UK Armed Forces Squad, which was a huge honour. Playing for the RAF enabled me to have the amazing opportunity of playing Premiership rugby for Lichfield and Saracens and really stretched me mentally and physically.

Along with all of these sports and many years of physical contact from rugby, came numerous injuries. However, whenever I went to see a physiotherapist no massage therapy was carried out, until I started playing for Saracens. I'd received massages before and found them very hit and miss. Most of the time I found them too light and really didn't feel like I had benefitted from it in any way. Being treated at Saracens, I learnt so quickly that a good deep tissue massage was just as vital as the strength and rehab exercises I was being given and really wanted to look further into it. I learnt that it wasn't just the sport that was building up the tension in my body but stresses from everyday life too. Stresses from a high capacity job, being away from home a lot and close members of my family passing away. Even being diagnosed with long covid and struggling to carry out everyday tasks, the frustration from that was also a factor.

I'd been seeing a Chiropractor for a few months and Katie, who worked there, was leaving and getting back into Massage Therapy. I booked in with her and this massage was everything I wanted. She focussed on the areas of the body that were filled with tension and afterwards I felt so much lighter. I didn't realise a massage could help relieve my emotional tension just as much as my physical. I asked her so many questions about the style of massage and her business and made the decision to take a huge jump and career change. I attended the Raynor Deep Tissue Massage Therapy Course and I'm not looking back. I have found such a passion in something I didn't realise was there!

I am so excited to be able to offer this Deep Tissue Massage and I genuinely believe it's something that everyone can benefit from no matter your age or fitness.
