FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your Questions Answered

When choosing a Massage Therapist you want to be sure you are choosing one that you can fully trust to answer all of your questions and concerns. Here's an easy-to-understand guide on some of the most common inquiries I receive from my clients. Check it out below!

What should I wear during the massage?

I will leave you alone to get ready for a few minutes before the massage by either leaving the room or turning away if space is restricted. Ladies are asked to leave their underwear on but remove their bra to allow me to massage the back without any restrictions. Men are asked to leave their underwear/boxers on. Please then lay yourself down on the bed with your face down in the cradle support. I will have fresh blankets or towels for you to cover yourself up with, don't worry if it's not perfect, I will adjust this draping before your massage.

What areas of my body will be massaged?

Raynor massage isn't a set routine and will not be the same each time. My goal is to find tension in the body and remove it. I will focus on the feet; legs; glutes (on top of draping); back; shoulders; neck; arms; hands and scalp. Ladies, please note that the breast area will not be massaged and will remain fully covered to ensure your comfort and privacy. I will use blankets and towel draping throughout the massage and I will only uncover the area that I'm going to be working on.

Please note, I have a have a zero- tolerance policy and any inappropriate behaviour or requests from the client will end the appointment immediately.

Do I need to do anything in preparation for the massage?

Please remove any jewellery, watches and hair accessories prior to the appointment.

Will the massage be painful?

The deep tissue therapeutic massage I provide is not what you would call a ‘fluffy’ treatment. If you have areas of deep-rooted tension, there may well be some discomfort as I work to remove the blockages. I will discuss the levels of pressure that can be used before the treatment begins and will always work within your own personal comfort zone. During the treatment I will regularly check with you that you are comfortable with the pressure being used. It is the initial surface tension that can cause the pain, but the good news is that once this has been dealt with I can then work on a deeper level on subsequent treatments with less discomfort than when we first started. The important thing to focus on is how great you are going to feel afterwards.

How will I feel after my massage?

It's different for everyone. Some people will feel relaxed and sleepy, where as others will feel energised. You might even feel dizzy or tingly (massage drunk). It's completely individual to you. I suggest drinking plenty of water after the massage to help flush away any toxins that are released. I also suggest to stay clear of caffeine and alcohol for a few hours after to prevent dehydration.

I feel tender the day after the massage, should I be concerned?

It is possible that you may feel a little tender in areas for a couple of days after the massage. This is because I try to work deeply into the areas where you tightly hold tension. This is a perfectly normal reaction and nothing at all to worry about. Any feeling of soreness will pass soon.

Any other questions you have I will be more than happy to answer. Just drop me a message or ask me at our next appointment!
